Muscle and Fitness

The muscular system is most directly effected by exercise. There are three types of muscles:

Skeletal Muscles- These are voluntary muscles that are attached to the bones by tendons.

Cardiac Muscles- The heart is the cardiac muscle. Its contractions are involuntary.

Visceral- This is a muscle of the internal organs. It is an involuntary muscle.

Most muscles have opposing pairs. One of those muscles contracts and is called the agonist, while it's opposing muscle contracts and is called the agonist. When the muscles work together they are called synergists. Muscle and fitness go hand in hand.

As your muscular system gets more fit you will see an increase in your metabolism. This will incrase the rate at which your body burns calories even at rest.
